Podcast Studio Guidelines
The purpose of the Sterling Library Podcast Studio is to provide the community with quality recording equipment. It is intended to provide a venue for patrons who may not have access to recording equipment, spaces or software.
Booking the Studio
- The room is available for individuals or groups who wish to use the library’s recording equipment.
- Individuals or groups must attend a brief orientation or a Podcast workshop with the library’s Recording Staff before they can reserve a room.
- The room must be booked at least one week in advance.
- Absolutely no drop-ins will be accommodated.
- The room is not considered reserved until the Library confirms the reservation in writing.
- Individuals or groups may make no more than 4 reservations per 2 month period.
- The maximum time for each reservation is 2 hours.
- Groups who fail to notify the Library when they cannot make their appointment may be prohibited from making future reservations.
- The Studio is not available on Saturdays or Sundays without special approval.
Using the Studio
- Food is not permitted in the Studio at any time.
- The room is not designed for recording music. Volume must be such that other customers will not be disturbed.
- The Studio can accommodate a maximum of 4 people. Library staff are not responsible for troubleshooting personal equipment brought into the Studio.
- Saving work on the Podcast Studio’s computer is prohibited. Users must save their work on an external memory source. The Library is not responsible for any work that is unsaved, corrupted, or altered in the Podcast Studio.
- Podcast Studio users may not install or download software or upgrades. For help or to suggest software, downloads and upgrades, please see the Recording Staff.
- The microphones, computer, and other equipment cannot be unplugged or reconfigured.
- The library’s Recording Staff cannot provide production or recording assistance.
- Recordings made in the studio are not sponsored by or made in partnership with Sterling Municipal Library.
