Recruitment
The City of Baytown is now seeking candidates who possess the qualifications and talent to join the elite ranks of the Baytown Fire Department as a Firefighter/Paramedic. If you are interested in beginning or advancing your career in Fire and Emergency Medical Services then do not hesitate to apply. The Baytown Fire Department is a career fire department with 165 total uniformed personnel (paid firefighters), with 153 of those working a 48 hours on/96 hours off schedule. An annual civil service examination is given to establish an eligibility list of candidates for employment. A candidate must pass both the written and physical examination to be considered for employment. Applications are accepted from individuals that are currently:
- Certified Firefighter/ Paramedic (National Registry or Texas Department of State Health Services)
- Certified Paramedic
*Those individuals that are paramedic only and successful in joining the BFD family will be required to obtain their firefighter certification through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection within their first year of employment. BFD will support and assist new employees with their Fire Certification process.

Civil Service Written Examination
The test date is on Saturday, August 5th, 2023 at 9:00 AM at the City of Baytown Fire Training Field, located at 7022 Bayway Dr., Baytown, TX 77520. Registration will begin at 8:30 AM.
Physical Ability Test
The test date is on Saturday, August 5th, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the City of Baytown Fire Training Field, located at 7022 Bayway Dr., Baytown, TX 77520.
