The Baytown Nature Center (BNC), located at 6213 Bayway Drive, is a 500-acre peninsula surrounded by Burnet Bay, Crystal Bay, and Scott's Bay open daily from sunrise to sunset. Serving both as a recreation space and a host for public educational programs, the Nature Center offers an interactive children's nature discovery area and playground, a butterfly garden, fishing piers, and a kayak launch coming soon!
Visitors at the BNC can explore miles of trails through dense hardwood forests, tidal marshes, and wetlands. Bring a bike to ride or take a hike out to Wooster Point or Golden Bloom Pond. The natural area of the park contains the Nature Center Overlook Hill where visitors can enjoy a bird's eye view of the park and walk the trails to Scott's Bay for a spectacular view of the Fred Hartman Bridge.
Visit at dawn or dusk for the best chance to see local wildlife. The Baytown Nature Center is home to a variety of native plants and wildlife and is listed on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail, providing habitat for over 300 species of resident and migratory birds. Visitor entry fees help fund the continued work to protect Baytown wildlife through conservation efforts and educational programming.
A monthly Audubon Bird Survey is performed in partnership with Houston Audubon and a full moon nature hike occurs once a month. For more information visit baytown.org/1002/Calendar-of-Events.
