We have some great news for those who drive West Baker Road and are used to waiting at the railroad crossing near ExxonMobil. Residents have expressed frustrations about the delays the crossing causes. So, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work to make your daily commute smoother.
After conversations with state and railroad officials, the City of Baytown is partnering with the Texas Department of Transportation to install advance warning signs, alerting drivers when a train is traveling over the tracks. Two advance warning signs will be installed near Mayhaw Street and Burnett Drive along Bayway Drive. Three more will be installed along Decker Drive before you get to the West Baker Road crossing.
Construction is expected to take place early this spring. Thanks for helping us make a Better Baytown as we’re on the road to a safer West Baker Road.
