Maria Porche began her career with the Health Department as a Secretary I on November 16, 2000. With a drive to grow and explore new challenges, she transitioned to City Hall in 2001, where she took on the role of Permit Technician in the Planning Department. Eager to expand her skills further, Maria joined the Finance Department in 2009 as part of the Accounts Payable team. During this time, she returned to school and earned her Associate’s degree in Accounting to deepen her expertise.
Her journey continued as she moved to BAWA in 2019, where she gained invaluable knowledge about the water filtration and purification process that serves the Baytown community. From there, Maria took on a new opportunity with the Public Works & Engineering (PWE) Facilities Team in 2023. In her current role, she expertly performs all Administrative duties to ensure the department is operating efficiently.
Throughout her career, Maria has demonstrated a deep passion for learning and an unwavering commitment to public service. She has truly enjoyed her time with the City of Baytown and values the relationships and experiences she has gained along the way.
Maria has been married to her husband, Reggie, for 24 years, and together they have two children, Denzel and Aaliyah.
Her advice to us, and to anyone who asks, is simple yet powerful:
