[ARCHIVED] Animal Services Impacted Due to Respiratory Illness

Animal Services

The City of Baytown’s Animal Services and Adoption Center is reporting several cases of a canine respiratory illness in its facilities. According to our veterinarians, the illness is contagious, but the sick dogs are responding to the medications and the hope is to get them healthy again as quickly as possible. The facilities have been sanitized and dogs that not showing symptoms have been separated.

In an effort to limit exposure to the community, the adoption center will not be accepting dogs unless they are injured or sick. Adoptions have temporarily been put on hold as well.

While limiting services is challenging, it is necessary to protect the public and our healthy dogs. It is not known at this time when normal operations will resume. If you have any questions, you are encouraged to call your veterinarian or call our Animal Services and Adoption Center at 281-422-7600.
