Officer Lunsford began his career in 1994 with the Baytown Police Department. During his 30 years of service Officer Lunsford has worked within the Patrol Division for 13 years with several of those years in the role of a Field Training Officer to lead and develop the next generation of Patrol Officers. Over the past 17 years Officer Lunsford has been assigned to the Investigation Division Crime Scene Unit in which he has been actively apart of major crime scene investigations. His assigned investigations have included homicides, robberies, shootings, burglaries, and deaths. His efforts and work in responding to these serious incidents have helped reduce crime within the Baytown Community and keep our citizens safe. Officer Lunsford has also received the Baytown Optimist Award for his commitment to community.
On top of his career achievements, Officer Lunsford holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Texas (Hook ‘Em). Outside of work, you will find Officer Lunsford on the golf course or spending quality time with his family – his wife Nellie of 18 years, his three children Monica, Meloni, and John Jr., and his wonderful grandkids AJ and Emma who are the light of his life. For 30 years at the City of Baytown, Officer Lunsford has lived out the Baytown Police Department mission to represent honor, integrity, and professionalism.
